2024 Environmental Grants

2024 Environmental Program Grants
Grants Paid during 2024
Including Payments for Grants Awarded in Prior Years

Full Frame Initiative $25,000
Greenfield, MA
One time grant to support the Coastal Wellbeing Project. Believing that the current response by coastal cities to the ever-growing threat of flooding is flawed, the Full Frame Initiative plans to employ its Wellbeing Design Principles to shift attitudes and to imbue the wellbeing of coastal ecosystems into the planning for climate change, thus creating a space for sustainable options to emerge. The project will develop messaging, media strategies, case studies, and a suite of case-making tools to advance the systems change thinking that is needed. The project will work in three coastal cities while cultivating national relationships, attracting additional funding, and laying the groundwork to spread this approach beyond the initial cities.
(Second payment of a $60,000 grant)

Great Plains Restoration Project $30,000
Fort Worth, TX
One time grant to support planning, coordination, and implementation of The Southern Great Plains Conservation & Recreation Area as a shortgrass prairie preserve and as a showcase for GPRC’s ecological health, education, and intervention model. The preserve will link existing parklands with new acquisitions, all to be restored and distinctively programmed. The preserve will be akin to a state level Great Plains National Park. This will result in the protection of native prairie grasslands, one of the least protected major ecosystems in the nation.
(Final payment of a $55,000 grant)

MERIDIAN INSTITUTE $15,000
DILLON, CO
One time grant to advance the work of the Reuse Refill Action Forum. Grant funds will support the Forum’s Fast Food Reuse Transition Initiative: an effort to transition business-to-business operations in the quick-serve restaurant industry to a reuse-refill model across multiple food service operations in elect cities by focusing on their back-of-house operations, e.g., bulk food deliveries, cleaning products, providers of soda fountain refill canisters, etc.
(Final payment of a $45,000 grant

New York City Audubon $25,000
New York, NY
One-time grant to support the project entitled 25 Years of Safe Flight: Creating a Model for Bird-Friendly Cities. New York City Audubon’s initiative will gather all it has learned in pioneering efforts to reduce bird deaths in New York City and make those valuable lessons available to cities across the country.
(Final payment of a $50,000 grant)

WIKITONGUES $25,000
BROOKLYN, NY
One time grant to support the project entitled Amplifying Traditional Environmental Knowledge through Language Revitalization.
